The Trinity Pages Recovery JournalArchivesFriday, 15 June 2007Semi-Lucid DreamI had what I guess I'd call a "semi-lucid" dream. Yay! Progress! I was dreaming normally, the usual sort of weird dream stuff, and then I was standing at an airline ticket counter, and I suddenly realised I was dreaming. I just sort of became aware, it was cool. I was very excited to realise it, but I didn't actually remember to do any dream-internal reality checks. I just knew I was in a dream. So, realising this, I turned to the ticket clerk and thanked her for the ticket she'd just processed, and I said, "One more thing," all casual, like it was part of the dream (I sort of had this idea that I didn't want to let the dream inhabitants know that I knew it was a dream, as if to do so would make me wake up), "Can you tell me what the symbolism of an airline flight means to me?" The clerk smiled and said, "No, sorry, I have no idea," and then I sort of became non-lucid again. It was sort of like falling asleep, except that, of course, I was asleep. I just went back into a normal dream state. I wasn't able to maintain the lucidity for more than a few seconds, but I was very much aware that I was dreaming, and I did have the presence of mind to ask a question. This looks like real progress to me, and I'm thrilled. I've wanted to learn lucid dreaming for years and not had any success with it, but I finally seem to be getting it. So, as previously noted, YAY! Committed to bandwidth on Fri, 15 Jun 07 in Dreams and Nightmares
