Contact the Web MistressDue to the content of some of the email I get through these pages, I'd like to remind readers that I'm not a mental health care professional. I am not a professional counsellor, nor a psychiatrist, nor a psychologist. I'm a web designer and writer, and someone who reads a great deal. I am also someone who has gone through a very painful and lengthy recovery from childhood abuse. I wrote it all down and put it on the web for my own healing, and eventually I learned that others benefit from my pages, so I kept them online for the sake of others. These pages are very personal, and not professional (at least, the psychology isn't professional; the web design is). I am happy to hear from people who visit these pages, to answer questions and clarify information you find here, and even to give bits of advice when asked (and when I have advice to give). I am a great believer in asking for and getting encouragement from others, but I always, always recommend getting professional help, as well. It's the only way I survived; without the assistance of a psychiatrist (for medication) and counsellor (to teach me ways to cope and manage myself), I don't think I could have broken free from the downward spiral I was in. Certainly reading, research, web surfing, online support groups, and so forth can be really helpful (they were for me!), but they can't replace valid medical advice. That being said, do please feel welcome to send me an email if you like, and do check out the Resources page for lots of great information. |
