I got my first sponsor for the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave. I went to my profile at the fundraiser site (where you, too, can sign up to sponsor me!) to have a look and Miranda happened to be standing behind me.
She saw the site and I said to her, “I’m going to shave my head.” She looked at me with an expression that said she wasn’t sure if I was pulling her leg or not. I assured her I was serious, that people would give money to charity if I did it, and I asked her if she’d seen the ads for it on television. She still looked at me suspiciously.
Finally she said, her voice incredulous, “I think you’d better check with Dad, first…”
