I’m taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave this year. Please sponsor me! Sign up as a sponsor via My Profile at the Leukaemia Foundation Fundraiser Site.
- Every hour of every day, at least one person in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.
- Every two hours, someone loses their life to blood cancer.
Please help me raise as much as I can for the Leukaemia Foundation. Their vital work provides patients with practical support during their long and tough treatment, as well as funding important research.
Donations go directly to the Leukemia Foundation, and would be in Australian Dollars (which are currently around 90c to the U.S. dollar, but it does fluctuate (you can check the current currency exchange rate for yourself, of course). It’s pretty easy to put foreign currency on a credit card or Visa debit card. I know, because I do it all the time.
I’ll put the images online, and leave them there, probably permanently (though I can never guarantee uptime, as it were). I might put them on Flickr and/or Facebook, as well as my own gallery, so that everyone can point and laugh at how ridiculous I look with no hair (and I’m quite sure I will look ridiculous). PLUS, while my hair is growing back, I’ll have pretty much no choice but to leave it the natural colour (!!!), which is a sort of dirty blonde with a lot of grey, but to be honest, I haven’t seen my natural hair colour since about 1988, so there would be that as an added bonus. My hair would probably have to grow out to at least an inch (which takes a couple of months) before it would be long enough to colour it again. So you can point and laugh at my dingy natural colour and all the grey I’ve manage to accumlate, too (yes, I’ll take pictures as it grows back in). Oh, and remember that for weeks I’ll have to gel it up and look like an echidna! Yes, a greying, dirty blonde echidna with glasses! How good is that?
So. Interested? It’s a great cause, and you get the benefit of being able to point and laugh at me (and I get to point and laugh at myself), plus we’ll all get good karma! Seems like win-win to me!
