So anyway…

In going through photos to update the gallery, I’ve been reviewing thousands of pictures of the little girls. I decided to share just a couple here, because they tickled me.

A few disclaimers. Yes, I know Miranda looks like me. Yes, I know Zoë and Miranda look alike (in some pictures, where they have similar haircuts, it’s actually really difficult to tell them apart!). I should also note that I have hundreds and hundreds of pictures of the kids looking really sweet or cute (Miranda, particularly, as she’s extremely photogenic as well as a ham!), but I chose these because they tickled me when I spotted them, and I thought a few readers might also be amused. Oh, and these are not new photos. The ones of Miranda are from when she was around four, and the ones of Zoë are from a couple of years ago. Click them to view a larger version.

First, Miranda, pretending to take MY picture (one of my favourite shots of her, ever). The other picture is probably the result of me stopping her from playing so I could take her picture. She wasn’t feeling hammy that day, apparently.

And now these two of Zoë. We were out for an afternoon drive, and we went up into the Dandenong Mountains, as we do pretty regularly (since we live very close to them). We stopped for afternoon tea as were sitting at an outdoor table and I took the opportunity to take a few shots of the kids. There are several in the series of Zoë smiling, but then something happened (I honestly can’t remember what it was; I think I told her to sit still or to sit down or something along those lines) and she turned on the pathos. The second shot is her extremely overdone “sad face”, and it was there in the blink of an eye, like flipping a switch. When I saw it, I burst out laughing, it was so ridiculous and so contrived. I know, I know, it’s not nice to laugh at a child in distress (especially one who is suffering for having been told to sit still!), but look at that face. Could you resist laughing? She wasn’t pleased with me at the time. I have since shown her the picture and she has had to grudgingly admit it looks pretty ridiculous.
