I’ve twittered a lot about the whole “clean feed” thing that the Labor Party is trying to push through. In a nutshell, it’s a mandatory internet filter that the government wants to force all ISPs to use. The entire plan has more technical issues than I care to go into, and furthermore, it’s not going to “protect” anyone, including children. It’s essentially going to be a huge waste of money, time, and effort, for little to no benefit.

For more on the technical aspects in easy-to-understand language, I recommend you have a look at #nocleanfeed – a bit of a technical description of the problem. The article also has a lot of very interesting links included toward the end. Very much worth reading if you’re in any way interested in the Australian government’s scheme to “filter the internet”.
