Yet more pictures from my garden

I’m quite surprised by how very gratifying I find gardening. I’ve never had much interest in it, to be honest, despite having had ample opportunity. What got me started was putting an avacado pit in a jar of water to make it grow, mostly as an exercise to show the kids. Said avocado plant is in a pot on the patio now, and doing very well.

I don’t have a huge garden or anything, just some pots around the patio, but I’ve got my little herb garden (the neighborhood cats seem to enjoy having a nibble of the catnip; I find little toothy marks in the leaves fairly regularly) and two quite large pots full of alstromeria lilies (four varieties), a large pot with a strawberry plant in it, a smaller pot with some tomatoes (not yet bearing fruit), a pot of dwarf sunflowers, several cactus and succulents of various sorts, and a crate of mushrooms (no ‘shrooms yet, but plenty of pre-growth mould, yum, and what a delightful smell the damp mulch has, so a word of advice: wash your mushrooms before you eat them!).

And, well, anyone who has had much of a look at my photo gallery will know I’ve got a fascination for macro shots of flowers. So, hey, colour me happy with a macro lens and stuff growing in my very own garden.

Anyway, some more pictures from my garden today:
